Meeting of the Carpathian Convention Working Group

konferencja krynica 2013The second meeting of the Carpathian Convention Working Group on Cultural Heritage and Traditional Knowledge was held in Krynica Zdrój (Poland) from 14th through 16th May 2013. 

The main objective of this meeting was the continuation of work on the proposed text of a new international agreement, which could foster the implementation of the Framework Convention – the thematic Protocol on the preservation and promotion of the Carpathian cultural heritage. 

The first draft of this document was elaborated in 2012 by  UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre, later submitted for regional consultations under the working group operating in the Polish part
of the Carpathians, and submitted to the Governments of all Carpathian countries in April 2013. Such Protocol can officially be adopted at the coming meeting of the Conference of the Parties
to the Convention in September 2014 in the Czech Republic. The Working Group meeting in Krynica was co-organized by the Interim Secretariat of the Carpathian Convention (UNEP Vienna – ISCC), Ekopsychologia Association and UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre within the project “Carpathians Unite
– mechanism of consultation and cooperation for implementation of the Carpathian Convention", supported by Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution to the enlarged European Union.
